International
EUCE - EU Centre of Excellence
The Ring
The University of Victoria is one of Canada’s leaders in European studies and is now home to one of two new European Union Centres of Excellence (EUCE) announced January 2014 by the Delegation of the European Union to Canada.
Engagement
The Ring
It can take Anas Cheema an hour to walk across campus – the 22-year-old economics student seems to know every second person and has a friendly greeting for them all. It wasn’t always this way for Cheema, who came to UVic in 2011, not knowing anyone. The international student from Pakistan spent his first few months on campus feeling lonely, isolated and stressed.
International dual degree graduate
The Ring
George Fu, an international student from Guangzhou, China, is graduating with his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Gustavson School of Business. Fu took part in the school’s dual degree program which allowed him to begin his academic career at his home university of Sun Yat Sen before moving to Victoria to complete his degrees.
CBIE honours MGB program
The Ring
The Master of Global Business (MGB) program at the Sardul S. Gill Graduate School, Peter B. Gustavson School of Business, has been honoured for the high-quality international education it provides. The Canadian Bureau of International Education (CBIE) gave the MGB their Outstanding Program Award in November. The award recognizes creativity and high quality in international education. The one-year MGB program, offered since 2010 and open to recent BCom grads, sees students work and live on three continents as they study international business practices, develop leadership skills and learn at least one new language.
