Members of the Greater Victoria community can freely access and use Library resources (including on-site digital collections, print collections, and public computer terminals). They can also borrow books and audio materials with a Community Card.

Benefits of a UVic Libraries Community Card

  • It's FREE!
  • Borrowing privileges for books (25 items max for 28-day loan)
  • Borrowing privileges for records/CDs (5 items max for 28-day loan)
  • Interlibrary Loan access (a fee-for-service to receive materials from other academic libraries)

What do I do if I lose my community card?

If you lose your community card, you must let the Ask Us Desk know as soon as possible to protect against unauthorized use. Contact us at 250-721-8230 or askus@uvic.ca

 

Do I have to live in Victoria to get a UVic Libraries community card?

No, community cards are not restricted to those persons residing in Victoria.
Valid government-issued ID must be presented in order to obtain your community card.

 

What is the cost for community borrowers to borrow books from the UVic collection?

There is no cost for community borrowers to take books out of the library. You can obtain a community card from the Ask Us Desk, and can have a maximum of 25 items out at any given time.

 

What if I am a community borrower who lives outside of the Greater Victoria area?

If you live outside of the Greater Victoria area, you can still borrow books for free from the library collections, but there will be a $10 delivery fee per book package.
