2023-2024 fall and winter sessions (Sept-Apr)
- Tuition is $11,006 for domestic students*
- 2024-25 fees are approximately $1,238 for domestic students
- Texts and course materials are approximately $1,500/year
- 2024-25 Law Co-op work term fee is $792 for domestic students
- Cost of living off campus for a single student for 2024-25 is approximately $15,224 according to Student Aid BC (moderate standard of living)

UVic Law Bursaries – The 2024-25 Fall/Winter Faculty of Law bursary application is now closed.
All supporting documentation for submitted applications (i.e. pay stubs, mortgage statements, student loan notices of assessment) is due August 15, 2024.

UVic General Undergraduate Bursaries – The UVic undergraduate bursary application is available online. The deadline for UVic general bursaries for the summer session is June 1.
Law Foundation Diversity Access Grant – These grants provide financial assistance for exceptional or unexpected circumstances. Contact the Financial Aid Officer for an application form and to confirm your eligibility. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Dean's Emergency Loans – These loans are available to provide short term, interest-free funds to students experiencing unanticipated financial crisis. This assistance includes, but is not limited to, an inability to pay immediate living costs due to unexpected delays receiving government student assistance or personal/family crisis which generate urgent financial need. Emergency Loans are not intended to pay for tuition fees and are not a regular supplement or substitute for traditional forms of student financial aid, i.e. government student assistance, scholarships, bursaries, family support etc. Application should be made directly to the law financial aid officer.
Law Student Emergency Bursary Fund - These bursaries are awarded to undergraduate students in the Faculty of Law and are intended to offer students one-time financial assistance in the event of an unforeseen emergency or circumstance while attending the University of Victoria.
Faculty of Law Indigenous Emergency Assistance Fund - Emergency bursaries are awarded to Canadian-born Indigenous students enrolled in full time or part time studies in the Faculty of Law in the event of an unforeseen emergency or circumstance. The funding is intended to assist with financial emergencies including, but not limited to medical, optical, or dental expenses; family crisis, community obligations, or cultural commitments and responsibilities; and unanticipated expenses that are beyond the student's control and that directly impact their ability to complete the term.
BIPOC Professional Development Fund - The BIPOC Pro D Fund has a total budget of $5,000 for the 2023/24 academic calendar year. Black, Indigenous or students of colour who plan to attend academic conferences during the 2023-24 academic calendar year, including summer 2024 may apply for a portion of this fund to offset costs associated with attending conferences.
Applicants for the BIPOC Professional Development Fund must self-identify as IBPOC, submit a detailed budget for the amount requested and consider sharing how attending the conference will enhance their professional development and networking opportunities (maximum one page). Conference support can include, and is not limited to: travel costs, conference admittance fees, food, accommodation and child care expenses. This award is not intended to support student club activities, events and/or individual educational training or courses.

Please note: The Student Support Office will adjudicate proposals in conjunction with Law’s Financial Aid Office as financial need will be taken into consideration when awarding funds.
Scholarships and awards
You do not need to submit an application for our scholarships and awards.
Entrance scholarships – You are automatically considered for entrance scholarships upon acceptance. Scholarships range from $1,000-$15,000 and are awarded to the most qualified students in the applicant pool.
Scholarships and course prizes – Numerous scholarships and course prizes are awarded on the basis of academic achievement.
