Andrew Luesley serves as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Victoria. He is currently a PhD candidate at the Peter A. Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia, where he previously earned his LL.M. and J.D. degrees. Andrew's academic journey has been distinguished by numerous fellowships and scholarships, including the Purdy Crawford Fellowship in Business Law, awards from the Law Foundation of British Columbia, and recognition from the Peter A. Allard School of Law.

Andrew joined the University of Victoria in 2023 as a Dean’s Graduate Fellow, bringing his extensive expertise in commercial law and crypto commerce. Prior to this, he was an Assistant Professor at Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law, where he instructed courses in Business Organizations and Legal Ethics.

The central themes of Andrew’s research encompass common law innovation, the advancement of the rule of law, and Section 15 equality rights under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. His scholarly work aims to bridge ideological divides through empirical evidence. He plans to collaborate with data scientists on interdisciplinary research aimed at addressing issues such as regulating crypto commerce, central bank digital currencies, and biases in the criminal justice system.

As an educator, he is dedicated to fostering a growth mindset among his students. He is committed to diversity and inclusion in his classroom and advancing equality rights in his research. Andrew currently teaches Contracts and Remedies.
