If UVic has an exchange agreement with your home university, you may be eligible to study here as an exchange student for one term (4 months) or two terms (8 months).
Follow the steps below to add a UVic exchange to your university journey. For questions, contact our Exchange Advisers at goglobal@uvic.ca.
Are you a Law or Business student? At UVic, the School of Business and Faculty of Law operate separate exchange programs. Please contact these departments directly for application instructions.
How to apply
The ICS exchange program typically supports students taking courses in UVic's Faculties of Fine Arts, Science, Social Sciences and Humanities.
Inbound ICS exchange students are restricted from enrolling in any courses in the following departments:
- Civil Engineering (CIVE)
- Law (LAW)
Limited courses are available to inbound ICS exchange students in the following departments:
- Business
- Education
- Human and Social Development
- Fine Arts
- Engineering (Software, Mechanical, Computer, Biomedical, Electrical)
The first step is to be accepted to the exchange program at your home university. After that, your home university will nominate you to UVic and you will complete a UVic application.
Contact the office at your home university that is responsible for coordinating outgoing exchange programs. Speak to your exchange team about the steps you need to follow to be selected and officially nominated for exchange to UVic. Follow the deadlines and processes set by your university's exchange team.
Your application to the UVic ICS Exchange Program will not be processed unless you have been officially nominated by your host university.
If your home university selects you for exchange to UVic, they will officially nominate you to the UVic ICS Exchange Program.
Each year, the nomination deadline is April 1 for terms starting in September or January. Your home university exchange team will handle the nominations.
After you have been selected and officially nominated for exchange to UVic, you will receive your UVic application instructions from the exchange team at your home university.
You must submit your application to the UVic ICS Exchange Program by May 1.
Your application to the UVic ICS Exchange Program will not be processed unless you have been officially nominated by your host university.
The UVic ICS Exchange Team will receive your application package, assess it and determine if we can offer you admission to UVic.
You will receive email confirmation from UVic by May 15.
Carefully review the UVic information sheet that will be provided by the exchange team at your home university.
