Alicia Ward is currently a MA student at the University of Victoria in the department of Germanic and Slavic studies under the supervision of Dr. Serhy Yekelchyk. Her thesis examines the politics of Holocaust memorialization in Ukraine, but she is also interested in the deeply rooted legacy of Soviet-era memory politics, the complex process of decommunization, as well as developing a multidirectional and hybrid approach towards Ukrainian post-Soviet memory studies. Alicia received a BA in History from the University of Victoria. Her studies included a focus on twentieth century Central and Eastern European history, as well as an interdisciplinary program in the Germanic and Slavic studies department.
