Lauren Stamhuis

Lauren has worked with Student Recruitment & Global Engagement at UVic since she graduated with the MA in 2011. For much of her time as a recruiter, she was the only French-speaking member of the team. She was proud to be able to reach out to students across Canada and various regions of the world in both national languages. She is now on secondment as a student exchange adviser in International Student Services—she sincerely believes there is great value in studying abroad, particularly when learning a language.

My studies in French helped me to develop and hone important skills like written and verbal communication, research, time management, presentation development and delivery, and even event planning. Being a smaller department made up of literary and linguistic specialists from all corners of the world—who genuinely care about their students—French at UVic affords you many exciting possibilities.
