Teri Derksen

Teri has worked for over thirty years in the field of child and youth care, as a front-line youth worker, program administrator and community development worker in both the non-profit and municipal government sectors.   Currently, Teri is a Professor in Child and Youth Care Programs at Vancouver Island University where she teaches a variety of courses.  In this role Teri also has the opportunity to continue her community work by supporting Child and Youth Care students in community based service-learning projects and teaching a community development course.

My graduate education at UVic enabled me to deepen my understanding of child and youth care practice and was vital in shaping the work that I am currently doing as a Child and Youth Care educator.
