Kimberley Ainsworth

Kimberley is an early childhood educator who has worked in a variety of child and youth care settings including family resource programs and parent participation preschools. Since 2014, she has been Manager of the UVic Child Care Services where she oversees the general operation of six child care centres. Kim returned to UVic in 2012 to pursue her MA in CYC with an interest in exploring how post-foundational theories can shape our views of children, families, carers and early childhood environments and open up new possibilities. UVic Child Care Services early childhood educators’ are engaged in ongoing inquiry and research work through a partnership with the School of Child and Youth Care.

In my day-to-day work at UVIC Child Care Services I continue to reflect on practice by engaging in theory and build on the critical thinking and research skills that I gained through my MA studies. I love working at UVic Child Care Services and credit the knowledgeable, skilled and highly innovative SCYC faculty with opening the door to my position through my MA studies. The experience of returning to UVic for my MA was truly life-changing.
