Learning and development

Human Resources offers a variety of learning programs, toolkits and information that contributes to people's learning and development, and to the success of the university. Each unit within HR delivers employment related learning on topics such as occupational health & safety, wellness & mental health, ergonomics, UVic careers portal training, recruitment & onboarding, leadership, team and interpersonal development, financial planning, collective agreement and labour relations information, and much more...

Organizational Development & Learning Services (ODLS) coordinates and delivers the full-year calendar of programs and individual courses, that build essential skills for employees to be successful as citizens of the UVic campus community. We offer a variety of learning opportunities at no fee for all employees.

Additionally, there are courses offered through UVic's Employee & Family Assistance provider, TELUS Health (former LifeWorks).

UVic has strong values and high standards related to anti-oppression and decolonization. Our vision is to create learning and work environments that centre equity, question colonial practices, and are free from intentional or unintentional bias, barriers, and microaggressions.  We are all in different places in our personal learning journeys around reconciliation, decolonization, and equity-centred practices.

With this in mind, we want to provide our clear expectations through the Creating Equity Centered Learning Environments resource, because we all play an integral role in creating welcoming, inclusive, and caring learning experiences at UVic.
