German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

The Study Scholarship - Master's studies provides 10 to 24 months of funding for one year of study abroad in Germany or a complete master’s degree.  This program is open to all disciplines except music, fine art/design/film, performing arts, and architecture (visit the link to find other scholarship programs for these disciplines).

The One-Year Research Grant – Doctoral Candidates provides 7 to 12 months of funding for a research project or continuing academic training with a supervisor in Germany.

Amount

Varies: includes monthly amount, travel allowance, health insurance costs, and optional German language course. Successful recipients may apply for further funding for rent subsidies, accompanying family members, and costs associated with a disability or chronic illness.

Application deadline

UVic internal deadline/DAAD external deadline: fall 2024 (TBA) for study/research programs beginning fall 2025
