T’łat’laḵuł Dr. Trish Rosborough Memorial Scholarship in Indigenous Language Revitalization

This award is supported by two organizations: The First Peoples Cultural Council and The First Peoples Cultural Foundation

The First Peoples’ Cultural Council (FPCC) is an Indigenous-led Crown corporation with a mandate to provide leadership for the revitalization of Indigenous languages, arts and heritage in B.C. FPCC serves as an advocate and a technical expert. We distribute funding and resources, provide training and create opportunities for language learning. We develop strategies, best practices and policy recommendations.

B.C. Indigenous communities guide our work. We receive direction through our Board of Directors, Advisory Committee and peer review committees, and we conduct planning and decision-making using a community development model. FPCC provides tangible steps to implementing recommendations and rights set out through UNDRIP, the TRC Calls to Action, and the MMIWG report.

The First Peoples’ Cultural Foundation (the “Foundation”) is a non-profit society and registered charity. We were established to protect Indigenous languages, arts and cultural practices in British Columbia.

The Foundation funds innovative and effective programs which aim to increase the number of speakers of First Nations languages in B.C. and revitalize Indigenous cultural systems.

The Foundation works to effectively fundraise and partner with other organizations dedicated to Indigenous cultures and languages.

The Foundation receives direction through our Board of Directors and works to provide tangible steps to implementing recommendations and rights set out through UNDRIP, the TRC Calls to Action, and the MMIWG report.
