Carol Ann Mitchell Bursary

Barbara McIntosh (1933-2001) was a very private person. She established the Nellie Perry bursary fund at the University Of Victoria in 2000 to pay tribute to her mother, Nellie Perry, who represented Canada, as part of the Commercial Graduates Basketball Club, at four consecutive Olympic Games from 1924 to 1936. The club won all 27 of their Olympic matches, but because women's basketball was not yet an official event, there were no medals awarded. The inclusion of basketball in the Olympic Games occurred for men in 1936, but not for women until forty years later in 1976.

Barbara established the Wendy Diane Esdale and Carol Ann Mitchell Endowments through a gift in her Will to honor her sisters: Wendy Esdale (1946 – 2011) and Carol Mitchell.

Also established the Carol Ann Mitchell Undergraduate Scholarship and Carol Ann Mitchell Graduate Scholarship.
