Corrine Lowen Memorial Award in Social Dimensions of Health

Corinne Lowen

Corrine Lowen embodied an enduring commitment to social justice, especially disrupting social structures that maintain inequitable educational and health outcomes. She also embodied a deep appreciation for Indigenous ways of knowing and relating to others.

Corrine completed an honours degree (Sociology) in 2006, and her Masters (Studies in Policy and Practice) in 2012, both at the University of Victoria. Corrine was also an experienced practitioner and teacher of Iyengar yoga.

Before she died, Corrine was working as a researcher in health equity at UVic and would have commenced doctoral studies in Social Dimensions of Health in the Fall of 2014.

Colleagues of Corrine Lowen at UVic established this award in her memory.
