Malcolm Fernandes Memorial Award

Malcolm Fernandes Memorial Award

The Malcolm Fernandes Memorial Award was established to honor the memory of Malcolm Fernandes, software engineer, advocate, sportsman, coach, son, brother, husband, father, and beloved friend to many.

Malcolm valued family above all else and his proudest achievement was his children. He was a kind, quiet and gentle person who was always willing to support family, friends and community. His lifelong passion of field hockey led him to play and coach - from club level to the national level.  The backbone of Malcolm's talent of coaching - encouraging young athletes to excel in sport, life and the pursuit of a good education - was driven by attributes of character, integrity, and sportsmanship which he instilled in his athletes.
