Brief Biography
A proud alumna of UVic, Sandra earned her BFA in acting and has remained deeply involved in the life of the Phoenix Theatre ever since.
Originally from Vancouver, Sandra’s connection with UVic began in 1981 through a high school summer theatre program. She transferred from Langara College and joined UVic’s Theatre program in 1982, graduating in 1985. After graduation she worked for the Greater Victoria Festival Society before joining the Department of Theatre as a staff member in 1986. She also holds a certificate in Arts Administration from the Banff Centre for Management.
In her current role, Sandra oversees all audience‑facing operations and teaches and supervises students in box office and front‑of‑house, helping them learn the practical, professional aspects of audience services.
Beyond her theatre work, Sandra is an active member of shared governance at UVic. She’s heavily involved with the Professional Employees Association (PEA), having sat at the bargaining table for every contract since 2004, and has served on numerous university committees advocating for the interests of her colleagues.
Sandra is known for her longstanding commitment: she has attended almost every Phoenix Theatre show since the early 1980s, and her daily work reflects a belief in the transformative power of live performance, especially the relationship between students, performers, and audience.
