Amanda Verhagen went from being the Assistant Technical Director at the Phoenix Theatre during university to a powerhouse breakout Film Producer in “Hollywood North.” She began her career transitioning from theatre lighting to lamp operating on sets and eventually moved into being a Production Coordinator for television series and features such as Arctic Air (CBC), Hector and the Search for Happiness (Wild Bunch) and The Flash (The CW).

She has now opened her own production company and produces feature films while still working for Warner Brothers Television. Her recent film, The Devout, premiered at The Busan International Film Festival in South Korea (often referred to as the “Cannes of Asia”) which has had an audience of over 220,000 people. This was quickly followed by a Canadian premiere at the Vancouver International Film Festival for the Producers Network. Her next upcoming film is Party Favour, a throwback to the 90s party movie written by fellow UVic alumna Megan Russell, which will go to camera in 2016.
