Since graduating in 2010, Chris Sibbald has been steadily developing a career in stage management, working with theatre companies across Canada and abroad.

During his time at the Phoenix, he was involved with on several productions and was the stage manager for Medea (2009) and Problem Child (2010). For Problem Child, Chris worked closely with the guest director for the production Michael Shamata of the Belfry Theatre, a relationship that continued to develop past graduating in 2010 when Chris became the Apprentice Stage Manager for the Belfry Theatre for a year. There, he was part of several award-winning productions, including Jitters, …And Slowly Beauty, 2 Pianos 4 Hands, The Cryptogram, The Life Inside, The Trespassers and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

While still at UVic he spent two summers working with Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre (2009-10) whose mandate it is to support emerging artists – including behind the scenes. At Blue Bridge he was the Assistant Stage Manger of Hank Williams: The Show He Never Gave and the Stage Manager for A Streetcar Named Desire.

His reliability, eye for details and professionalism has lead him to theatres across country including assistant stage manger at the Kay Meek Centre in West Vancouver and an apprentice stage manager at the Factory Theatre in Toronto for the production of Every Letter Counts.

Chris also studied at the Centre for Opera Studies in Italy under their Stage Management Internship Program and worked at Pacific Opera Victoria on their production of Falstaff and returned in 2015 for their production of Lucia di Lammermoor.

In 2013, Chris went to the Stratford Festival and was involved with various productions, as the Production Assistant for Cymbeline, Wanderlust, and Elektra and as the Apprentice Stage Manager for Blithe Spirit.
He returned to Stratford in 2014 as the Assistant Stage Manager for A Midsummer Night's Dream (Directed by Siminovitch Prize winner Chris Abraham) and Christina the Girl King.
