Self proclaimed “Professional Geek”, Charles Ross (BFA’98) has made his mark in the theatre world with his 2 shows “One Man Star Wars” and “One Man Lord of the Rings”. “One Man Star Wars” started as a Fringe show, Directed by fellow Phoenix Alumni, TJ Dawe (BFA ‘9?). The show became a huge hit and has now been preformed over 1200 times in 180 cities over 4 continents. From a 5-month run in the Lamb’s Theatre, Off-Broadway to London’s, West End, from Dubai’s resorts to the Glastonbury Music Festival. Ross received a license from Lucasfilm to perform the show, and has preformed it at many Lucasfilm Star Wars conventions. One Man Star Wars was the 2007 Phoenix Theatres “Spotlight on Alumni” presentation.

 

Sir Ian McKellen saw a performance of “One Man Lord of the Rings” at the Vancouver Fringe Festival in 2005. McKellen said “This was a thoroughly engaging show – an hour of visual and verbal jokes at the expense of the film trilogy, Tolkien as well as the actors, although it was always clear that the actor Charles Ross adored his material.”
