Meg Roe

Meg Roe came to Victoria for her BFA in Acting at the Department of Theatre and was part of several memorable productions, including Frogs (2000) and Two Planks and a Passion (2001). She had not yet technically convocated when she was asked to return for a Spotlight on Alumni in 2004 to present The Fever.

As a theatre actor, Meg has appeared across the country at most major institutions including Canadian Stage, Centaur Theatre, Factory Theatre, Theatre Calgary, Alberta Theatre Projects, Bard on the Beach, Arts Club, Belfry Theatre, Intrepid Theatre, Electric Company Theatre, Vancouver Playhouse, and the National Arts Centre. Outside of Canada, she has performed with the American Conservatory Theatre (San Francisco), Center Theater Group (Los Angeles) and with Kidd Pivot Frankfurt RM (Frankfurt).
In 2012 she swept the lead actress categories at Vancouver’s Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards, winning the lead actress in a large theatre award for The Arts Club Theatre’s production of The Penelopiad and also the lead actress in a small theatre for The Electric Company’s All the Way Home.

She has also received much acclaim for her directing. In 2013, Meg made her Shaw Festival debut directing their production of Trifles - two short plays by a pair of seminal American authors, Susan Glaspell and Eugene O’Neill. The plays garnered high praise from the Globe & Mail who commented that they were “both acted, designed and directed with a sureness of purpose that some of the festival’s larger shows often lose,” and ended their review saying that “Director Roe ties the whole package together with a poetic coda that combines sound, light and movement to rare effect. It makes your senses snap to attention and say, “Yes, this is a director worth watching.”

Roe has also worked as a sound designer and is the voice on the audiobook narration of David Goodfellow’s young adult novel “Raven Bramblebutt and the Feral Children.”
