New resources for career development

August 04, 2023

Submitted on behalf of Co-operative Education Program and Career Services.

This past year, UVic Co-op’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Team developed and released a new suite of resources and programming for career development focused on disability and accessibility.

The details

The new student resources and programming seek to support students who identify as having a disability or mental health challenge as they search for work and take part in the workforce. The new content added to both the co-op preparation courses and website focuses on helping students:

  • find more inclusive employers;
  • determine if, when and how to self-disclose a disability or mental health condition; and
  • have conversations with employers about accommodation.

Recognizing that these students often face barriers to employment, the EDI Team also developed employer-focused resources. These resources help employers build more inclusive, safe and equitable workplaces.
