EDCI 487 Teaching in Rural Communities
Curious about rural teaching opportunities? Wondering about the unique skills teachers need to teach in small rural schools?
EDCI 487 is a 4th year elective course for elementary education students. Topics include: place-based and –conscious curriculum, culturally responsive pedagogy, the multi-graded classroom, urbanormativity, spatial justice, blended learning, and school-community partnerships. Students will have the opportunity to speak to rural superintendents, complete an 8-week practicum in a rural community (optional), and learn about teaching and living in rural communities.
