ABSTRACT:

A fixed frequency, single-phase single-stage soft-switching, high frequency transformer isolated ac-to-dc bridge converter with low line-current total harmonic distortion (THD) is presented. A new type of gating scheme is used. Different operating modes and intervals of operation are identified and analyed. Based on the analysis design curves are obtained. The converter performance at different line and load conditions is predicted. Design example a 50 kHz, 1.7 kW ac-to-dc converter is presented. Simulation and prototype experimental results will be given to verify the the converter operation and performance.
