ABSTRACT

Abstract

Advanced numerical tools are presented to solve electromagnetic field problems which can occur in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) applications. These techniques have been developed to solve some specific EMC problems as the coupling of electrical circuits and electromagnetic fields, shielding, susceptibility and radiation of cable and wires, fast transients, time domain losses. The proposed solution models are based on the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method, on the finite element method, on the multiconductor transmission line MTL theory and on the hybrid techniques. Application examples will be given to show the performances of the proposed methods in frequency domain and in time domain.

Biography

Mauro Feliziani received the degree in Electrical Engineering in 1983 from the University of Rome "La Sapienza", where he was appointed Researcher in 1987, Assistant Professor in 1990 and Associate Professor of Electromagnetic Compatibility in 1992. From 1994 he is Full Professor of Basic Electrical Engineering at University of L'Aquila, where he is the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering. He was the Chairman of the Electronic School in 1995-2000. Prof. Feliziani has published more than 100 papers in the fields of electromagnetic compatibility and in the numerical field computation. He was awarded as author of the 1995 best paper of the IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications - Electrostatics Process Committee. Prof. Feliziani was Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility from 1995 to 2000. Prof. Feliziani has been Program Committee Member, Tutorial Session Organizer, Invited Speaker and Session Chairman in qualified international conferences. He was the Secretariat of the International Symposia on EMC: EMC ROMA (1994, 1996, 1998) and EMC EUROPE - Brugge 2000. He organized the AEI Workshops on EMC (L'Aquila 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999). He is the general Chairman of the next edition of the EMC EUROPE Symposium (Sorrento, Italy, Sept. 2002) and the Editorial Board Chairman of the IEEE CEFC Conference (Perugia, Italy, June 2002). He is Committee Member of the Italian Department of Health for human exposure to electromagnetic fields.
