ABSTRACT

Abstract:

The problem of maximum-smoothness interpolation is to estimate the original continuous-time signal from the given signal samples according to some optimality criterion. Here the optimality criterion will be the Sobolev norm of the reconstructed signal, which will be minimized in order to maximize the smoothness of the reconstructed signal. In Sobolev spaces the maximum-smoothness interpoaltion reduces to simple weighted least-squares optimization in the wavelet domain.
