ABSTRACT

Abstract

After presenting an overview of third generation (3G) standards evolution, we present the current phase of its evolution. We next outline the next phase of 3G evolution and conclude the talk by some preliminary thoughts on beyond 3G known as systems beyond IMT 2000 (4G?).

Biography

Mo-Han Fong graduated at the top of her class from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 1993. She received her Master's degree from the University of Victoria in 1995 where she was recipient of a University fellowship, Martlet Chapter IODE Graduate scholarship and the BC Advanced Systems Institute Graduate Assistant Scholarship. In 1995 she received the Canadian Advanced Technology Association (CATA) award for excellent research in telecommunications. Ms Fong joined Nortel Networks in 1995 and currently manages a group involved with 3G implementation.
