ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT:

A Software Product Line (SPL) typically consists of a product line architecture and a set of reusable components (abstract and concrete) designed for incorporation into that architecture. Recent experiences and case studies of SPL development have revealed that new and adapted software development techniques are necessary to cost effectively develop software product lines. This presentation reviews some of these special techniques including O-O frameworks, adaptable product-line processes, and collaborative development environment (CDE) support. Concrete examples are given based on studies undertaken at the University of Alberta through the Frames Project, the LINC Project and the spin-off company Avra Software Lab.
