ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT:

This talk will focus on what needs to be done to speed technology transfer within the software engineering field. Drawing upon lessons learned in industry and at the Center for Software Engineering at the University of Southern California, the speaker will identify collaborative approaches that are being used effectively to bridge the gap between theory and practice. These approaches rely on quantifying cost/benefits to convey to stakeholders how the use of new technologies can impact an organization's bottom line. Such arguments provide organizations with a business case for making needed improvements. During the course of the talk, the speaker will introduce two of the Center's cost model development projects that he leads as Principal Investigator. He will also communicate his vision and the goals he is attempting to achieve with his research.

Biographical Sketch
