Abstract: 

Blockchain technology is the foundation of cryptocurrency and distributed ledger system. Here, we demonstrate that blockchain can enhance data integrity and security of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) network due to its intrinsic nature as a distributed storage system. In this project, a MongDB database has been deployed to manage the data records produced by a SCADA testbed. InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) and a private Ethereum network have been set up to store the data from MongDB. Further, we test and verify the performance of the blockchain based storage by launching two different types of attacks to SCADA testbed. Overall, the Ethereum blockchain SCADA storage system provides a platform for further research and development on improving security, availability and integrity of the SCADA system.
