Abstract:

Erbium-doped nanoparticles are promising candidates to harvest solar energy from solar spectrum bands that are not absorbed using silicon and GaAs solar cells. Using plasmonic structures enables enhanced upconversion emission from the erbium particles. In this work, gold nanorods were used to selectively enhance the upconversion emissions. In another separate work, the colloidal lithography technique was used to fabricate double nanoholes in gold film and tune the nanostructure size using the plasma etching for trapping applications.
