Shifting to the Canadian workplace

Transitioning from a human resources role in the Philippines to Canada was challenging, but UVic's Career Services team helped me navigate the job market and ensure my skills were recognized.

My goal is to work in leadership in the field of Human Resources Management. This photo reminds me of the warm welcome I received on my first day with the City of Victoria's People & Culture Department, which I found after working with Career Services.

What inspires me to do HR work is the opportunity to make a positive impact on people's careers and lives. I am passionate about creating a supportive and inclusive work environment where everyone can thrive and reach their full potential.

What support did you access?

Career Services played a significant role in my UVic experience. Right after my new student's orientation at UVic, I immediately booked an appointment with Darcie to set myself up for success. Darcie's guidance and support were invaluable, helping me navigate my career path and achieve my professional goals.

I highly recommend for other students to take advantage of Career Services. Their expertise and guidance can make a significant difference in navigating students' career path and help them achieve their professional goals.
