A community-based education hub

Our vision is a campus that offers a rich array of learning opportunities and life experiences so you can build a thriving future.

Computing Gateway program

UVic plans to offer a Computing Gateway program [Engineering page link to be updated] at the West Shore campus, starting in the 2025/26 academic year.

The Computing Gateway program is an entry program that provides up to the first 2 years of coursework in one of UVic's computing-centric degrees:

  • Computer Science
  • Data Science
  • Software Engineering

Benefits

  • small, cohort-like classes with a dedicated instructional team
  • collaborative, success-oriented strategies as learning materials
  • chance to experience courses that lead to any of the 3 fields
  • defer your specific discipline choice for up to 2 years
  • availability of software-specific design courses
  • choice between full-time and part-time course loads for academic-life balance

After 2 years in the Computing Gateway program at UVic's West Shore campus, you would transfer to the Gordon Head (main) campus to finish your courses.
