Security camera recording service

University Systems provides digital video recording (DVR) services for video surveillance cameras run by UVic. In order to use this system, you must:

• receive approval from the University Secretary
• purchase suitable security cameras
• arrange installation of the cameras by Facilities Management or an authorized vendor
• arrange to have the cameras connected to the UVic network by Network Services

This service provides access to a secure web-based application allowing you to view live camera feeds in real-time. Recorded images are retained for two weeks. Access to recorded images is governed by University Policy GV0235.

Use of surveillance systems is subject to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and UVic Policy GV0235, Protection of Privacy (and Associated Procedures).
