Manhattan's messy avenue addresses

Reuben Rose-Redwood was reached for comment by the New York Times in an article from last week about Manhattan's complicated address numbering system. Over 200 years ago, the city disregarded empty lots and assigned consecutive numbers to every building. As development increased, prominent buisness owners resisted the renumbering efforts. The resulting mess continues to plague city planners, emergency responders, taxi drivers, and Manhattan residents.
