Five-minute Research Reels winning video
The video "Philippines Fisheries Research" won first place in the Five-minute category of the inaugral UVic Ideafest Research Reels video showcase. This video is about Geography master's student Alessia Kockel's research and was created by Geography undergraduate student Levi Hildebrand.
Alessia Kockel does her research on Marine Protected Areas in the Philippines. The goal of this research is to inform local fishers about the benefits of protecting marine areas for future generations. Geography's Dr. Phil Dearden is also featured, discussing the current challenges with fisheries resources.
