September 8-10: Organized Sound Symposium: Anthropologies and Musicologies of Infrastructure

University of Victoria, Sept. 8-10, 2017

The Organized Sound Symposium launches an international and interdisciplinary investigation into the hidden infrastructural dimensions of music making and listening. The event will be held at the University of Victoria, 8–10 September 2017—and it’s open to everyone!

The purpose of the symposium is to gather contributors to an edited collection, tentatively called Organized Sound: Music, Media, Infrastructure (edited by Kyle Devine and Alexandrine Boudreault-Fournier), and to provide an opportunity for us to discuss our anthology chapters. In addition to providing feedback on one another’s work, we will also benefit from the contributions of invited guest discussants as well as faculty and students at UVic and beyond. The symposium provides a free, public, open space of conversation and exchange among students and faculty members.

If you are not presenting but would like to attend, you are very welcome. Please see the Registration tab of our website for further info.
