Low Harm Cancer Treatment

University of Victoria medical physics professor, Devika Chithrani, is spearheading research into a better way to deliver cancer-fighting treatments.  Her work initially invesitigated the technique of inserting gold nanoparticles (GNPs) into cells to enhance X-ray therapy, work that has now been referenced thousands of times by health researchers.  Her group has also produced promising results with improved delivery, targeting, and activation of chemtheraputic drugs while decreasing side effects.

Dr. Chithrani's work was recently featured in a Times Colonist article.
