Neil Burford wins CIC Montréal Medal; Fraser Hof wins CSC IntelliSyn Pharma Research Excellence Award

Two UVic Chemistry Professors have been recognized by awards from the Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC) and the Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC).

Prof. Neil Burford is the 2017 winner of the CIC Montréal Medal /Médaille de Montréal in recognition of his “outstanding contributions to the profession of Chemistry in Canada”.  In addition to his excellent research and teaching, Neil has advanced the profession through his leadership roles in national and international chemical organizations. Prof. Fraser Hof is the 2017 winner of the CSC IntelliSyn Pharma Research Excellence Award for his “distinguished contribution to medicinally relevant chemistry”.  The award recognizes Fraser’s research into new chemical agents that bind to and block key portions of protein surfaces essential to their function. His fundamental research is leading to new investigative and diagnostic tools to probe the early steps in cancer development.  Read more.
