Master's Fellowship Awarded

Erin Cusack was the successful candidate for the Master's Fellowship with the ELPH team. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion with a focus in health promotion research and policy from Dalhousie University. Erin's undergraduate studies fostered a passion for health and social equity, social justice issues and healthy public policy through coursework, an honour’s thesis and a government internship. She developed the relevant theoretical and practical foundation to addressing the social determinants of health, essential for the ELPH Fellowship, though courses such as: Mental Health Promotion, Disability Management, Community Health Promotion Strategies, Health Promotion Policy and Advanced Research Methods.

Erin writes: "As a Graduate Research Trainee, my goals would include developing relationships with all project partners to develop a transdisciplinary approach to addressing the equity and social justice issues underlying substance use in British Columbia. I intend to capitalize on the opportunity to work with a collaborative team and with multiple agencies to learn different approaches to addressing health equity and social justice. As such, my personal goals for the fellowship training involve learning to design research and knowledge translation strategies that incorporate policy and practice implications from the outset."

We look forward to working with Erin and helping her to achieve her goals.
