Announcing Substance Use Grand Rounds Speaker Series

Do different models of addiction lead to different treatment methods? Are they complimentary, or do they clash?

"Defining Addiction: Different Models, Different Treatments?", featuring Dr. Karen Urbanoski and Evan James of the Umbrella Society, kicks off the Canadian Institute for Substance Use Research (CISUR) and Island Health’s Substance Use Grand Rounds, a quarterly speaker series exploring the latest research in substance use.

The presentation will consider:

  • What is the biopsychosocial model of addiction?
  • What do relational models of addiction have to add?
  • What do these different models of addiction mean for treatment?

The event takes place at 3pm Thursday, February 20 at the Woodward Room in Begbie Hall at Royal Jubilee Hospital, 2021 Richmond Road, and is also being offered via webinar.

Register here to attend in-person or online.
