Welcome to new UVic Law faculty members in January 2013

UVic Law extends a warm welcome to new faculty members Assistant Professor Kathryn Chan and Professor of Law and Lawson Lundell Practitioner in Residence Rodney Haley, who join us at the start of 2013.

Professor Chan will be teaching Property Law, Administrative Law, and a course in Charities entitled the Voluntary Sector and the Law. Her research interests include the law of the voluntary sector, the law of gift, administrative law and regulation, religious freedom, comparative law, and human rights and legal pluralism. She joins UVic as a Trudeau Scholar and is completing her doctorate at Oxford University.

Professor Hayley will be teaching Civil Procedure, Class Actions and Mass Litigation, and a course he has designed on legal history entitled “Anti-Asian Laws, 1850 to the Present: Origins, Application, Repeal and Redress”. A prolific scholar and experienced teacher, Rod will also maintain his position as a senior partner at Lawson Lundell LLP in Vancouver, where he practices complex civil litigation, including securities litigation, products liability, class actions, construction law, gaming law, employment law, and corporate and commercial litigation. The Faculty is grateful to Lawson Lundell LLP for supporting this position.
