First year teaching award goes to Jamie Cassels

The first-year JD students have awarded Professor Jamie Cassels the First Year Teaching Award for the 2012-2013 academic year. The award is given annually to a member of the law faculty in celebration of excellence in teaching. First-year students vote to select the award’s recipient.

Professor Cassels, who taught first-year Contracts in 2012-13, has been a 3M National Teaching Fellow, Canada’s highest award for university teaching. He returned to the classroom this past year after 10 years of serving as Vice-President Academic and Provost. This award comes as Professor Cassels is about to begin his term serving as president of the University of Victoria.
