Faculty of Health

UVic’s first new faculty in 30 years—the Faculty of Health—will become operational on May 1, 2025. A new website is now live with key information, including programming, resources and frequently asked questions.

For more than 50 years, UVic has been leading the way in unique health and wellness programs such as health informatics, psychology, social work, exercise science, nursing, medicine and co-op.

The creation of this new faculty means some schools in the Faculty of Human and Social Development (HSD) will be moving into the Faculty of Health (FOH) while others move to the faculties of Education and Social Sciences.

The following schools are confirmed to be part of the Faculty of Health for May 1, 2025:

UVic's Clinical Psychology and Counselling Psychology master's programs also will be part of the Faculty of Health.

The School of Child and Youth Care will be moving to the Faculty of Education, while the School of Public Administration and the School of Indigenous Governance will be moving to the Faculty of Social Sciences. HSD will be disestablished one year later, in May 2026.

Visit the new website to learn more about the programs, UVic’s health strengths and to see what sets our health story apart from other institutions.

In honour of HSD's long history, we have launched a new Legacy story series in which we will look back at our achievements and speak to some of the people who have helped shape our faculty for the better, including Social Work's Jeannine Carriere, who starts off the series.
