Healthcare is being transformed today. Fundamental to its improvement is the need for health information to be shared. Health information interoperability is key to the success to this important work. In the Health Terminology and Interoperability Standards Certificate Program (HTIS) offered by the University of Victoria's School of Health Information Science, you will learn about the exciting field of standards and interoperability, critical topics for making healthcare more modern and efficient. In this program you will learn about how data is represented, exchanged, standardized, and applied to improve our healthcare systems. You will learn also about the details, challenges, implementations, and acceptance of modern data-driven health information exchange. You might your journey to becoming health-data expert by joining the CCHIM-accredited online HTIS Certificate Program. In this session, the program is described from a pragmatic and professional point of view.  The Program is a one-year, part-time program with weekly online evening classes and a virtual workshop. It is intended to meet national and international needs for best practices in controlled terminologies, classification, and interoperability standards used in healthcare. Graduates of the Program are eligible to receive a Certified Terminology Standards Specialist (CTSS) professional designation for which there is a significant demand within specialized healthcare information management roles.
