Will reflects love of home in Hungary

A generous gift in the Will of Hungarian-born Tibor Szamecz is creating opportunities for increased student exchanges with the country he loved.

The late Tibor Szamecz was known for his outgoing personality, great sense of humour, and concern for the youth of his home country, Hungary. He came to Canada in 1956, after the Hungarian Revolution, and worked in the BC Ministry of Forests.Through a generous gift in his Will, he has made it possible for Hungarian students to study at UVic and UVic scholars to study in Hungary, all expenses paid. Tibor's love of life has been passed on to countless generations of Canadians and Europeans.
