Campus Waste Audit

Ever wondered what goes in the trash? From Mar. 24 to 28 the university's waste reduction unit will be carrying out a campus-wide waste audit to find out exactly that.

The purpose of the audit, coordinated by Facilities Management in conjunction with Waste Management’s Green Squad, is to create a snapshot of how well UVic's waste and recycling programs are working and how we might improve in the future to achieve our goal of 75% landfill diversion.

Staff will be collecting and sorting through waste and recycling from approximately 19 locations on campus to find out what people are recycling and throwing out.

On Friday, Mar. 28 a sorting tent will be set up in the quad to sort materials from the library. Drop by with your questions about the university's waste reduction initiatives. Students from Environmental Studies 200 will be assisting throughout the week.
