Updated course supports equity in ARPT decisions
The course “Increasing Equity in Decision Processes,” required for all faculty who participate in Appointment, Reappointment, Promotion, Tenure (ARPT) committees, has recently been updated and relaunched. This BrightSpace course has been taken by over 1100 people since it launched 3 years ago, with almost 70% of survey respondents indicating that they found the course “extremely effective” or “very effective” in preparing them to contribute to equitable ARPT decisions.
The 2024 version of the course has numerous updates, including a significantly revised section that reviews the harms of colonialism and the ways they limit our vision of academia and scholarship. Alternate ways to view service, pedagogy and research from outside of colonialism are explored. Anyone with a NetLink ID can take the course at Increasing Equity in Decision Processes 2024.
