Dr. Rishi Gupta is Paving the Way to Replace Cement and Reduce Carbon Emissions

To provide an alternative to carbon dioxide sequestration, Dr. Rishi Gupta (Civil Engineering) and his colleagues at UVic's Facility for Innovative Materials and Infrastructure Monitoring (FIMIM) are pushing the limits of what is possible with concrete by substituting cement with other sustainable binding materials. Gupta gives more insight into how geopolymer concrete and ash at the bottom of coal-burning thermal power plants can be a better alternative to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions.
