Faculty EDI committee hosted ‘Noon Networking’ at First Peoples’ House

Noon Networking is a weekly event held most Wednesdays during the fall and winter terms in the First Peoples House that welcomes students into the space to connect with staff, share food together, and to learn more about a UVic program area or department who provides a short presentation on their work. On February 15, Dr. Levi Smith and Dr. Rishi Gupta organised one of these events on behalf of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee. The event began with an Elder’s blessing and collaborative conversations continued over lunch. Turnout was great, especially as it was the first time the committee has done this type of event. On Facebook, there is a great photo of the wonderful, diverse group who helped organise it, with professors, staff and co-op all represented. For more information about the Faculty’s work on EDI, please contact Dr. Rishi Gupta, Special Advisor to the Dean on EDI, and check out their website for a list of helpful resources.
